Paro Airport (PBH) is Bhutan’s only international airport. It’s considered to be one of the most challenging places to land in the world, as it’s surrounded by soaring 18 thousand feet high peaks. As you can imagine, the landing makes for a pretty fantastic experience. Only a handful of pilots are qualified to land at the airport.
There are no direct flights from Britain to Bhutan. Druk Air flies into the country from a range of Asian and Indian destinations, and was the first airline to offer the service. Bhutan Airlines flies from Bangkok, Kathmandu, and Kolkata.
Ground transportation and a tour guide are both covered by the tourist tariff. Your guide should meet you at the airport and help you to get to your accommodation.
